MISSION. Teams will move from one position Check Point (CP) to another CP,based on the bearing of the compasses direction and the distance. Upon arrival at the CP, team leader will decide who to lead to the next CP and delegate other job as well such as Lead scout, pacer, last man, torch bearer etc. The Marshall at the CP will supervise thatthe changes take place and to give everybody a chance to lead the team and contribute to the success of the team. This activity can be conducted in the day or night. For night activity, each memberis advice to bring their own torch light. Nonetheless, we do have torch light for group that required our assistance. All Team are required to wear proper attire and sport shoe/ trekking shoe is a MUST and preferably long sport pants/ jeans or track bottom. The winning Team shall be the Team who finished the whole course in the shortest time.
OBJECTIVE. The activity is relatively good for team work, co –operation, leadership quality, planning, strategy, man management, command and control and communications skill for it to be able to complete the exercise. In addition to night activity it’s a good test for individual fear of darkness phobia.
METHOD. Participants will be taught in the class on how to read directions from the compass and most importantly how to use the compass correctly. After all participants are familiar with the usage of the compass, they will then proceed to the jungle training area to begin their quest. S&R Department will only issue one/ two torch light and one compass to a team for Night Compass Marching (depending on the number of participants per team)..
* Ideal size for each activity is between 10 to 15 persons/ Group. Our S&R Facilitator/ Trainer will brief the Group on the do’s and don’t in the jungle prior to the start of the exercise. Marshall will be stationed at the CP to supervise and conduct the exercise.
